AJKKU urges PM to reconsider crop insurance | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 14: All Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Union (AJKKU) today held meet and urged the Prime Minister of India as reconsider the proposal of providing crops insurance on minimum premium. According to press release, the meeting was held under the chairmanship of Ashok Sharma, former legislator, has resolved that unless crop and cattle insurance was not available then all the schemes of Government of India for farmers are proved as impracticable and useless for them. The farmers are facing both the apathy of the government as well as the cruelty made by the nature for long time and now they are not in position to pay premium for crop insurance. They have suffered because of the climatic change, un-precedential rains, drought, said Sharma. It is very unfortunately for the farmer community, the incumbent governments either in state or in Union have been disappointing the farmers. Farmers are 85% of population and consider as the back bone of nation but since long time they are suffering due to incessant rain and natural calamity but no one is seemed bothered about it. They demanded six month free ration, timely free seeds and fertilizers for the forthcoming crop and free power supply for six months |
