Gadkari, Madhav bartering nation's interests in J&K: Hari Om | | | Jammu, Jan 14 : Terming as highly dangerous the BJP's approach towards the sensitive and strategic State of J&K, Prof Hari Om, former political advisor to J&K BJP president, charged Union Surface and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and BJP national secretary and in-charge J&K Ram Madhav with bartering the paramount national interest and sealing the fate of the nationalist people of the State in general and Jammu and Ladakh in particular. A statement issued here, it stated that the BJP has turned totally insensitive to the nationalist aspirations and urges of the people of Jammu and Ladakh, internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus, refugees from Pakistan and daughters of the State married outside the State to non-State Subjects and it will have to pay very heavy price sooner than later, he said in a statement issued. "The statement of Gadkari that the BJP will help PDP fulfill the dreams of late Mufti Sayeed and the statement of Madhav that the BJP is for the continuation of the 2015 power-sharing arrangement between the BJP and the PDP only indicated that the party is playing with dangerous tools. The dreams of Mufti Sayeed, if fulfilled, would mean separation of J&K from India, victory of Pakistan and anti-India forces in Kashmir and enslavement of the people of Jammu and Ladakh," said Prof Hari Om, adding that the Madhav's statement that "BJP will take care of demands in Kashmir minus separation from India" further established that something very serious is cooking up in New Delhi. Prof Hari Om said that the BJP's reassurance to the PDP that it was committed to the same old anti-Jammu, anti-Ladakh, anti-minorities and anti-refugee power-sharing formula and that it is also committed to implementing the 2015 PDP-BJP agenda of alliance constituted a breach of faith that the people of Jammu pinned in the BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. He added that by giving such an assurance to the PDP, the BJP has once again proved that its only ideology is power and that it can go to any extent to achieve it. "The BJP is the only party in the country which consistently compromised its ideology for the sake of power," he asserted, adding that it happened under the leadership of Vajpayee and it also happened under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah, he said. In fact, PM Modi and Shah went several steps further to stitch up an alliance with a party in Kashmir that was, and is known, for its pro-self-rule and pro-Pakistan ideology and soft approach towards Kashmiri separatists," he further said, adding that the refusal of the BJP to take cognizance of the Mehbooba Mufti's statement that the PDP-BJP coalition assumed the office in March last year only after the consent of a Hurriyat Conference further vindicated the nationalists in the State that they committed a grave blunder by voting for the BJP. He reiterated his stand that the PDP-BJP agenda of alliance was nothing but an agenda of subversion, agenda of capitulation and a new charter of bondage for the already rather marginalized people of Jammu and Ladakh. "It was the most dangerous document any political party prepared and sought to implement in J&K after the country's independence," he said, adding that an overwhelming majority of the people of Jammu Ladakh - apart from internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus and daughter of the State married outside the State to non-State Subjects - is vehemently opposed to the PDP-BJP agenda of alliance. He asked the BJP leadership to hold referendum in Jammu, Ladakh and refugee camps to ascertain the views of the people on the agenda of alliance. "The BJP+ is the single largest formation in the kept-in-suspended-animation J&K Assembly. It has 28 MLAs. The tally of the PDP, on the other hand, has been reduced from 28 to 27 after the demise of Mufti Sayeed. It is obvious that it is Jammu that deserves the post of Chief Minister in J&K," said Prof Hari Om, adding that it would be murder of democracy if the BJP hands over yet again the highest executive office to the PDP and allows the PDP to hold the same number of berths in the State Cabinet and portfolios in case the PDP agrees to form coalition government with it. Prof Hari Om urged the BJP leadership to learn lessons from the ignominious defeats the party suffered in Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhat-tisgarh, Himachal Pradesh and Jharkhand in 2015 and refashion its whole approach towards the constituency that brought the BJP to power in New Delhi in 2014. |
