Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan: 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to ailing Chief Minister of Punjab Prakash Singh Badal has raised eyebrows in the PDP camp as several leaders started believing if Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was less 'important'.
Interestingly, PM Modi never visited late Mufti at the AIIMS in New Delhi.
Sources close to Mehbooba Mufti said she was disappointed that neither PM Narendra Modi nor any top Central minister, who played a key role in the government formation, had visited Srinagar to offer condolence to the bereaved family.
Modi had also not visited Mufti at AIIMS, where he was admitted for about 15 days before passing away on 7 Jan this year. "Our leadership is seriously thinking on these terms and are of the opinion that Late Mufti did not get the respect from the BJP high command, he deserved," a senior party leader said and added perhaps the party president is in a 'dilemma' whether she will have to go through the same.
However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met ailing Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh.
Badal has been hospitalized since last Friday due to chest congestion and common cold. The PMO had also tweeted that Modi would visit PGI. "PM is visiting Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal at a hospital in Chandigarh to enquire about his health," the tweet said. There are speculations and rumors doing rounds in the political circles in the valley that PDP president is hurt by the BJP. And even raising eye brows among the party and its followers, and, seemingly, forcing to rethink the alliance. "When late Mufti Sayeed took oath in winter capital of state Jammu including Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and BJP president, Amit Shah, and other senior Leaders of BJP were present on the stage during the oath ceremony on March 1 2015. Unfortunately, no one among them visited Mufti's residence nor AIIMS. I suggest Mehbooba Ji should think about the behavior of BJP's leadership," Senior PDP Leader Said.
However, Late Mufti Mohammad always used to say that he connected the PDP-BJP coalition with "bringing together North Pole with South Pole". The mandate of elections is clear that the PDP is the choice of people in Kashmir and the BJP in Jammu. So we decided that we will come together to give a government which will give all-round development to all the regions in the state.
The Bhartiya Janta Party is in middle of yet another crisis, as Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti, continues to delay her decision on government formation. Notably, the period of 20 days has passed since the Mufti Mohammad died, Mehbooba continues to remain silent and in "no hurry," about the government formation, as the state is presently governed by the Governor NN Vohra, second time in ten months.
Meanwhile, the Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi along with Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ambika Soni personally visited Mehbooba's residence to offer condolences. Azad even surprised many by visiting Mufti's grave on second day of his death and also he visited several times to AIIMS, when late Mufti was admitted there. Mufti Sayeed's decision to ally with BJP, which had first time won 25 seats from Jammu areas, was met with inflexible resistance even from within his own party. From the day one, core and founder members of PDP leaders Muzaffar Hussain Beig and Tariq Hameed Karra have openly opposed the decision of government formation with BJP. In the 87-member J&K assembly PDP has 28 seats while Congress has only 12. If both choose to ally they will be short of four seats but the Independent MLAs including Engineer Rashid have already offered their support if Mehbooba walks out of the BJP-supported coalition.
PDP senior leader and former education minister did not comment.
