Roping in outside experts on Kashmir proves costly for BJP | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 28: Roping in so-called experts on Kashmir from outside the State is proving costly for BJP whose alliance with PDP is in jeopardy after the death of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. Sources said that BJP's Kashmir policy has failed to pay dividends as the Party could not grasp it properly during its last 20 months rule at Centre. The main mistake which the BJP did in J&K is that it failed to give the role of experts on Kashmir from the seasoned politicians and intellectuals from the State who have a lot of knowledge of ground realities and psyche of the people of its all the three regions, sources added. Sources said roping in outsiders as experts on Kashmir who even don't know ABC of the State politics and assigning them the task of formation of alliance with PDP and framing the agenda of alliance has proved dearly for BJP which choose to ignore the experts from the State on the topic. The same blunder was made by Congress after the death of former Prime Minster Mrs Indira Gandhi and some decisions taken by Rajiv Gandhi were the main cause of putting the State to present crisis, sources added. Sources said though many experts from Kashmir having a lot of hold on State politics and knowing the psyche of people have been ignored by new Delhi totally and the present BJP government instead banked upon on its Kashmir experts from Southern states who neither are familiar with the language, geography, psyche of people of the three regions nor the political upheavals which the State faced since 1931 and after its accession with India in1947. Sources said to enter into an alliance with PDP which had a seasoned politician like Mufti Mohammed Sayeed BJP needed to have roped in some experts from the State like senior politicians, diplomats, professors and other intellectuals. Sources said that BJP's decision to remain dependent on experts from outside the State has proved costly for the party as its alliance with PDP was not based on strong grounds. The BJP representatives who framed agenda of alliance with PDP were weak as they surrendered various issues for which the Party had launched many struggles in the State since the Praja Parishad Movement. These experts who were under the impression that they gained every thing and created a history by sharing power for the first time in the State failed to understand that they failed to bargain on vital issues with their alliance partner and the bases of the alliance were also not on strong grounds. This is the result that the PDP has started calling shots once again and dictating terms to BJP for keeping its political constituency intact. |
