On national TV, BJP misleads the nation
Waving of Pak flags in Kashmir

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan 28: It has become customary with the BJP national spokespersons to take the nation for a ride and mislead it by spreading and preaching falsehood.
Ever since March 1, 2015, when the PDP-BJP coalition formed government in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP spokespersons, without any exception, have been telling the nation that the "Muslims of Kashmir have full faith in Indian democracy" and to mislead it they have been referring to the high voter turn out in the 2014 assembly elections in the state. They also have been shamelessly telling the nation that "the waving of Pakistan flags in Kashmir is not a new phenomenon and making fool of the BJP-led NDA government at the centre by saying that there could be unrest in the Valley, if the authorities book the Pakistani agents, who hoist Pakistan and IS flags in Kashmir every Friday in the Jamia Masjid area or somewhere else in the valley.
"If our government initiates action against those who hoist Pakistan flags in Kashmir every Friday, it would be dubbed as intolerant. That's the reason our government doesn't act against them. If our government books them under the charge of sedition or for an act against the Indian state, there could be unrest in the Valley. To avert this eventuality, our government does not take any action against them. We know that these anti-nationals indulge in anti-national activities and wave the Pakistan flags. We know that they get money from Pakistan to enact anti-national acts and still our government thinks it desirable not to isolate them and bring them to justice, as we do not want to give any opportunity to our critics to charge the Modi government as being intolerant," said the irritating BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Wednesday while participating in a television (Zee TV) debate.
This is the BJP the people across the country voted for in the last general elections. Had the Indian electorate known that the BJP would bungle and adopt a very soft policy towards Kashmiri separatists and those Pakistani agents who hoist Pakistan flags in the Valley, they would have rejected it. Anti-nationals are anti-nationals. They can't be given a freehand to indulge in antinational activities under any circumstance. By taking the stand that the BJP on Wednesday took on such anti-nationals, the BJP only proved that it is worse than the "secular" Congress and vindicated all those who say that "India is not in safe hands".
The BJP not only gave the people to understand that India under the present dispensation has become essentially a banana republic, but also misled the nation by withholding the truth that the people of Kashmir came out in large numbers during the last assembly elections only to inflict a crushing defeat on the BJP in the Valley. "This was for the first time that the people of Kashmir rejected the boycott call and voted in large numbers. Over 70 per cent of the Kashmiri Muslim voters exercised their franchise and they rejected separatists and Pakistan," the BJP spokesperson said. What the BJP said was a white lie. The fact is that separatists like Syed Ali Shah Geelani this time urged the people of Kashmir to vote in large numbers to ensure the defeat of all the BJP candidates, which did happen.
"I will not enforce the boycott call. Kashmiri Muslims must come out of their houses in large numbers and vote against the BJP, as the victory of the BJP even in a single assembly constituency was fraught with dangerous consequences," he had said in a written appeal to the Kashmiri electorate. Not only Geelani, even the PDP, the NC and the Congress leadership in the Valley had sought and got the people's votes on the anti-BJP plank, as also on the planks of self-rule, greater autonomy and the 1975 Indira Gandhi-Sheikh Abdullah accord. The BJP must stop hoodwinking and misleading the nation. It must tell the whole truth to the nation, so that things are put in perspective and policies are evolved accordingly.
