Early Times Report

Poonch, Jan 28: For some it might be out of conjecture but surprisingly the ever-growing unemployment could be gauged from the fact that a post graduate is working as cook in government school for past the many years and that too for peanuts i.e. monthly honorarium of meager Rs 1000/-.
The incident further had turned to a 'paradox' for our system as the person in question has not been paid for the last 7 months further making the things to turn from bad to worst. Sources said, "The ill-starred cook identified namely as Zahoor Ahmed Khan s/o Said Akber khan of Ari in Poonch district has attained his Masters Degree in Sociology. However lady luck didn't smile upon him he was left with no option but to get engaged as Cook in Government Middle School Upper Kandi Zone Harni under Mid-Day meal scheme since 2013 on the monthly pay of Rs. 1000 only.
Narrating his ordeal, the ill fated Zahoor revealed that he belongs to a poor family.
Being eldest among all the siblings in his family, he shared the responsibility to run the family affairs by opting menial job despite having his higher qualification.
Zahoor also added that his father is an old person and have no work at present thus the socio economic circumstances forced him to manage the things as the responsibility of livelihood earnings came upon him only. In sheer desperation, Zahoor lamented that for the last seven months the meager honorarium of Rs 1000/- too was not paid to him reasons best known to the people at the helms of affairs. "I am doing cook's job in this school," he said, adding "I don't feel inferiority complex as I feel cooking food for children and help them in their studies also. "I don't know why I was not paid but I know I am doing my job devotedly even whenever cooking gas cylinder runs out, I go to nearby forest and collect dried tree twigs to use them as fuel for cooking, Zahoor rued, adding, "initially I used to get my honorarium timely but for the last seven months it too has been vanished putting my family in heavy financial burden.'
Expressing concerns over the issue, some locals said that this is unfortunate part of the picture of system that several low qualified youth have managed to get ReT teacher job in different localities and even have got regularized as permanent teachers but a second thought should be given to utilize the services of highly qualified people like Zahoor who could be adjusted in some teaching job for betterment of society and as a token of regard to the qualification of an individual.
