GDC Kathua organizes inter-college symposium on "Girl Child" 1/28/2016 11:58:00 PM KATHUA, Jan 28 : A symposium on the topic "A Girl Child brings joy not less than a boy" was organized in Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua. On the occasion, SSP Kathua Neeva Jain was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Jain motivated the girls of the college not to give dowry and take a strong decision of not marrying to a boy who demands a dowry. She said that the girls should also persuade their father for discouraging the social evil of dowry. There is no harm of acting as a housewife because you can save a lot of money by working as a housewife. She said that the declining sex ratio is an alarming bell for the society that needs to be addressed with an iron hand. He said that no society can develop and progress without the contribution of the women. He stressed for the proper education of the girls. She also assured the girl students that the police department shall be organizing civil defence camps in their college so that they may be trained to face the criminals and eve teasers boldly. Earlier Principal of the college in his welcome address gave a detail of various social evils prevailing in the society which are making the girl child survival a little difficult. As many as 10 students of the different Colleges participated in the symposium.
