JKNPP lambasts Union HRD Minister, VC UOH | 'Suicide of scholar at Hyderabad University' | | Early times Report
Jammu, Jan 28 : JKNPP today lambasted union HRD Minister and vice chancellor university of Hyderabad, where a scholar committed suicide. According to press release, the JKNPP activists today organized massive demonstration to protest the inhuman treatment doled out to Scheduled Castes across the country with particular reference to the case of Dalit scholar, Rohit Vemula who had been expelled by Hydrabad University. The protestors raised slogans against BJP govt., Smiriti Irani, Union HRD Minister and Bandaru Dattatreya, Union Minister for labour and employment. Addressing the gathering, Pavan Dev Singh State Secretary Young Panthers said that since the formation of the BJP govt. at the Centre, the scheduled castes and other marginalized sections of the society are being victimized, abused, assaulted and insulted. He referred to the earlier case of burning alive of the two Dalit youths with a central Minister making the 'Dog remark' in the gruesome tragedy. Likewise, he said that a Dalit boy was arrested by Haryana Police by BJP govt. on charges of theft of a pigeon and later only his dead body was found. He said that the recent incident of the death of the Dalit scholar Rohit Vemula had fully exposed the BJP led govt. with its ministers making highly mischievous, fabricated and provocative statements. He regretted that the central govt. had failed to see through the pain and agony of the Dalits with its Ministers making irresponsible utterances thus forcing a team of Dalit professors to tender mass resignations from their administrative posts. Seeking the resignations of Smarit Irani and Dattatreya, Pavan Dev said that Panthers Party shall not tolerate the atrocities being committed on SCs. He further sought action against the BJP leaders of Ramnagar who had assaulted some scheduled caste youth recently but were allowed to go scot free due to their political influence. Others who spoke on the occasion included Pushpinder, Arun Dev singh, Rakesh Singh, Neeraj Sharma, Ashok Malkhan, K P Bandral, Ankush Paul, Anoop Thakur, Mohan Lal, Nikhil Thapa, Ranjeet, Sanjay, Rajesh Kharka, Yash Paul, Jeet kumar, Sunil Vaid, Manish Sharma, Sahil Sharma and Abishek Gupta. |
