JKPFCC calls on Daljit | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 16: Jammu and Kashmir Poultry Farmers Coordination Committee today met Daljit Singh Chib, Vice Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans in his office Chambers at Srinagar and apprised him about the difficulties which they are facing in their day to day work. According to press release, the JKPFCC informed the Vice Chairman that their trade is in distress due to the fact that some outsider poultry dealers have developed a new way of business by importing dressed birds instead of live birds on which presently there is no toll/tax due to which local farmers are compelled to sell their product on losses as such the poultry industry is on the verge of collapse. They also impressed for giving insurance cover to the poultry farming so that they can cope up with the damages which often occur in their hatcheries. They also stressed for immediate ban for import of layer birds throughout the state which is commonly known as "Dogfood" which comes directly from Punjab and is spreading dangerous diseases which is harmful for human beings. They also stressed for establishing of modern investigation labs in every district so that neat and quality meat is provided to the consumers. They delegation also stressed that poultry rates are being decided by the Directorate of Food and Supplies officials who do not know even the basic grammar of poultry. They were of the opinion that this job should be assigned to the Animal Husbandry department which is the concerned agency of poultry. The delegation comprised on Manjit Singh, Vikas Sethi, Ghulam Mohammad, Bashir Mehta, Farooq Dar and Pola Sharma and others Daljit Singh Chib Vice Chairman Kisan Advisory Board gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them they he will convey their problems to the concerned quarters so that their hardships are addressed at the earliest. He also assured them to have their meeting with the Minister concerned Animal Husbandry where they can keep their point of view and get their problems resolved.
