Early Times Report
Jammu, June 16: Two days after desecration of a religious place at Roop Nagar here, Police Thursday booked a terminated police constable under Public Safety Act (PSA) after he allegedly committed a sacrilegious act at a religious place at Nanak Nagar here this evening.
Sources said the former constable is a drug addict, and was dismissed from services two years ago for allegedly being under the influence of drugs even during duty.
As the word about the sacrilegious act spread in Nanak Nagar area, people took to the streets and staged a protest demanding stern action against the accused following which Gandhi Nagar police swung into action and arrested the accused. This is second case of desecration of a religious place within two days.
The Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh when contacted confirmed that a terminated cop has been booked under PSA.
