Family alleges negligence, BMO denies | Death of 7 month old baby | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 16: In a socking incident of alleged medical negligence, a 7 month old baby who was suffering from diaherrea died at Community Health Centre (CHC) Sohanjana. The family members of the deceased were also allgedly roughed up by the staff. However, the administration of CHC denied all allegations . As per reports, on May 9 last a 7 months baby ssuffering with dehydration was brought to CHC Sohanjana where lady doctor Dr Seema Gupta, who was on duty did not attended the patient and even was not administrated fluid drip which he direly needed. The delay on the part of the doctor resulted in the death of the baby. However, after the death the baby, the concerned doctor referred the dead baby to Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital Jammu for declaration of the death . After few days, father of the bay Rafiq Ahmed had filed a complaint with Block Medical Officer (BMO) in which he requested for conducting inquiry and strict actions against the doctor. "But unfortunately, the father was beaten and also humiliated by the BMO of CHC Sohanjana when he asked about the inquiry. Moreover, it was not first case of negligence by the lady doctor, as few patients had already died due to her negligence, "sources alleged and adding the higher ups of the CHC were leaving no stone unturned to appease the lady doctor by tampering records. Further, the name of baby who died was not included in monthly report by the BMO which clearly shows that the administration is supporting the lady doctor who is not sincere towards her duty. Denying all allegations, BMO Dr Monohar Lal admitted that the patient was brought in his centre for treatment and was given treatment on time but due to acqute dehydration, the baby died. "Some elements in the centre were defaming CHC by raking up the issue of the bay of poor laborer, "he stated. |
