2 killed as tree falls, hailstorm damages standing crops

Baramulla, June 16: Two persons including a minor girl and a soldier died while two others received injuries after a tree fell on them in Baramulla district on Wednesday late evening.
A police official said that a five-year-old Iqra Jan, d/o Muhammad Ashraf Khan of Faqir Bhag Chandoosa died while her mother and brother identified as Akbar Jahaan and Hilal Ahmad Khan sustained injuries after a tree fell on their Kotha during the windstorm.
The official said that the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment, while, adding that a soldier died who was identified as Surinder Kumar of 64 field regiment Ziran Tangmarg died after a nearby tree fell on the post he was manning last evening.
According to sources that at least 22 residential houses were damaged after trees fell on their roofs in Tangdarh area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district yesterday late evening. The six houses were damaged in Tangdarh and Teetwal block after Devdar trees fell on their roofs. Hailstorm in the area has also damaged standing crops including fruits.
