UMEED scheme (NRLM) launched in block Tral | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 16: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj today formally launched UMEED Scheme, the poverty alleviation project under J&K State Rural Livelihoods Mission in Tral Block of district Pulwama. The Scheme is aimed to provide better livelihood facilities to the women particularly in rural areas by showing them a sustainable path to capital. After inauguration of the UMEED Scheme in the Block, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan while addressing the gathering said that the scheme has already brought great hope for poor women in not only to come out of poverty but also raise their status within the communities. TheScheme is extensively based on capacity building and strengthening of community based institutions by federating women at different levels. He said the Government is committed for bringing revolutionary changes in the economic stability of the state particularly in rural areas. The Minister praised the perseverance of women and her role in nation building. He also stressed the gathering to come forward towards this welfare based programme and assured them of complete support and handholding from the side of government. Mission Director J&K SRLM Dr G N Qasba also spoke on the occasion and said that with the launch of the Scheme in Block Tral, it has covered the 23rd Block within the state. |
