Early Times Report Srinagar, July 4: : A division bench of the high court has said that it expects the high-level monitoring committee for preserving and protecting Dal lake to achieve desired results soon. "The monitoring committee is expected to take immediate steps to achieve the desired results of preserving and conserving the water bodies, more particularly the Dal lake," said a division bench of Justices M H Attar and A M Magrey said while hearing a PIL. In its first meeting, the committee headed by the state chief secretary took eight decisions and all of them were adopted by the court. The committee had decided that Commissioner Secretary, Law and Justice, would work out the formulation of a comprehensive legal framework for the enactment of a strong legislation for the preservation of all water-bodies in the state. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir pollution control Board filed a status report, highlighting shortcomings at various levels of Dal preservation. However, the bench observed that nothing had been stated as to what action was taken by it and granted time to file fresh affidavit by first week of August next. |
