BJP MPs, according to the sources, have complained to party high command that BJP ministers are "incompetent" and have failed to live upto the expectations of the common masses in Jammu region, and they (MPs) should be given a chance to pull up the officials to streamline the functioning of the various government departments in the Jammu region. Sources claimed that despite the BJP ministers staging protest, MPs have succeeded in persuading the party high command to let them review the functioning of the government departments. The MPs trying to act as bosses has not gone well with the ministers. In a related development two MPs convened a meeting to review the functioning of Power Development Department (PDD) here on Monday. However, the review meeting was held in absence of the concerned minister, who stayed away without assigning any reasons. Besides MPs the meeting was attended by a few senior BJP leaders and the top PDD officials. Sources said both the MPs pulled up the PDD officials for their failure to regulate power supply in Jammu region in the summer season. "PDD has let down the Jammu people in scorching heat by resorting to unscheduled power cuts and load shedding," the MPs are understood to have told the PDD officials. Sources said both the MPs expressed grave concern over the recent deaths of PDD employees due to electric shocks. "These deaths are a result of lack of coordination in the department. Two employees lost their lives in Jammu a few days ago. Yesterday also two PDD employees died under same circumstances at Pargwal and even today two more employees got injured at same place," sources quoted BJP MPs as having told the PDD officials. "This is sheer negligence and won't be tolerated," the MPs said. They asked the officials to take immediate steps to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in future. Both the MPS, according to the sources, cautioned the PDD officials that callousness won't be tolerated. "No leniency would be tolerated if the PDD officials adopt delay tactics in mitigating the sufferings of the people," MPs said. Insiders revealed that BJP ministers have told the officials "not to take" the MPs and their directions seriously and carry on with their work without getting intimidated. |
