CABI organizes programme for farmers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 4: The Consultative Forum of Department of Agriculture Jammu and Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International (CABI) organized a collaborative sensitization meeting on Plantwise Programme for farmers of Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts of Jammu Division, J & K. CABI is an international organization of 48 members countries and Government of India (GoI) is also a member country. Department of Agriculture and CABI launched the programme to serve the farming community to improve the quality and quantity of their crops, enabling them to achieve better yields and returns. It works to increase opportunities for trade through Plant Clinics by providing the locally relevant crop advisories to manage the crop losses caused due to pests and diseases. Today's launching will soon be followed with trainings of officials of the department to act as "Plant Doctors" on such Plant Clinics. This novel approach of farmer advisories will also help in field data management for supporting the government to take appropriate interventions at local and policy levels that would help in mitigating the losses caused by different biotic and abiotic stresses. CABI provides training and access to knowledge for farmers that will help them to improve crop quality whilst safeguarding the environment. |
