Flying squads book erring traders, realizes Rs 31000 fine

JAMMU, July 4: The flying squads constituted by Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Simrandeep Singh today conducted surprise checks in different areas of Jammu city.
The teams visited New Plot, Janipura, Sarwal, Bantalab, Gole Market, Kunjwani, Gujjar Nagar and other areas and imposed a fine of Rs 31000 on erring traders.
They also warned shopkeepers and business establishment owners to refrain from unfair trade practices.
Fines/challan were imposed for violations like non display of rate list, food safety certificates, non verification of weighing scale, unhygienic environment in their establishment etc.
Deputy Commissioner informed that in view of the coming festival of Id-ul-Fitr and ongoing Amarnathji Yatra these drives will be intensified.
He also asked the shopkeepers/business establishment owners to ensure strict compliance to the set provisions and desist from unfair trade practices.
Teams comprised of Executive Magistrates and officers of various line departments including CAPD, JMC, Food Safety and Legal Meteorology.
