Early Times Report Jammu, July 17: A fresh batch of 1,889 pilgrims left here today amid tight security blanket from base camp in Jammu for their respective base camps in Kashmir viz Baltal and Pahalgam. "Amid slogans like 'Bum Bum Bole, Jai Baba Burfani ' a fresh batch of pilgrims comprising 1422 males, 333 females in a convoy of 39 buses, 13 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) left from Bhagwati Nagar base camp for Baltal and Pahalgam in Kashmir", an official said this afternoon. He said "Besides these, 134 sadhus in four buses also proceeded on their onward pilgrimage from parade Ground Jammu, adding, " a total of 1889 pilgrims in 56 vehicles today left Jammu to holy cave shrine situated in South Kashmir HImalayas." Yatra has been suspended four times -- twice due to bad road condition and s many times due to turmoil -- in valley since July 9 in the wake of violence in the Valley following the killing of the top Hizbul Mujahideen commander. |
