Ram Madhav to 'educate' BJP Ministers | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 17: Unhappy over the conduct and performance of BJP ministers in the Mehbooba Mufti's coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP high command has finally decided to train BJP ministers in the state about the ideology of the parivar so that they didn't bungle again in the assembly and embarrass the party at the national level. Sources close J&K BJP president Sat Sharma acknowledged that "the BJP will hold 4-day (July 22-25) training camp at salubrious Patnitop to train the BJP ministers in J&K" and said "those who would educate the BJP ministers during the training camp include BJP national general secretaries Ram Lal, Ram Madhav and Murlidhar Rao", Sources close to him further revealed "there is also the possibility of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visiting Patnitop for a few hours during which he would teach to the BJP ministers the BJP's ideology and political programme as well as the stand of the BJP on J&K". Ram Lal is the national general secretary (organization) and Ram Madhav, besides being the former RSS spokesperson and party's point man in J&K, was one of the architects of the PDP-BJP agenda of alliance. Murlidhar Rao has also served in J&K state as ABVP leader. What has necessitated the training of the BJP ministers in the state was the manner in which they handled the sensitive Transfer of Property Bill issue, which ignited passions all across the country with the Union Government and the party high command intervening to salvage the situation spoiled by the BJP ministers. All the BJP ministers had become a party on June 23, when this controversial bill was endorsed for introduction of and discussion on the bill. The bill across the country was described as anti-India bill designed to create a high wall between the permanent residents of J&K and the rest of the countrymen, as also to destroy industry in Jammu". The bill was also described as a conspiracy hatched to hamper security operations in the state. The bill had said no stand land would be given on lease to any non-state subject. The bill was also aimed at hurting the interests of the children of the daughters of the state married outside the state to non-state subjects. It was because of the intervention of the powers-that be in New Delhi that a middle path was followed to save the government in the state. The bill was sent to the select committee. However, the idea of Ram Madhav, Ram Lal and Muralidhar Rao addressing the JK BJP Ministers and educating them about the party's ideology has surprised many. The critics have asserted that "it was not the J&K BJP Ministers who abandoned the party ideology; it was the BJP high command itself which had done so for power. The BJP ministers did what they were seemingly told to do by Ram Madhav, other central BJP leaders and RSS leaders like Arun Kumar, former J&K Pranatiya Pracharak". "The BJP high command has already surrendered everything to Kashmir; it has already agreed to not touch Article 370; it has already said in the agenda that Pakistan and Hurriyat Conference are also stakeholders in J&K and so on," the critics said, adding that "it would be proper to term the proposed training camp as a camp of entertainment held away from the sultry and warm Delhi". "It will be a pleasure camp," a senior BJP leader, who was fed up with the BJP's policy, said on the condition of anonymity. |
