Early Times Report JAMMU, July 17: At a time when State Congress is trying its best to corner ruling PDP-BJP coalition for its failures to handle Kashmir situation and smooth run of the holy pilgrimage to Shri Amarnath Ji, the dissident group has once again decided to intensify its struggle for reconstitution of Pradesh Congress Committee. During an emergency meeting of the group, which was attended by senior dissident leaders, a unanimous decision was taken to hold meeting of all the Congressmen, who are not happy with the incumbent team of PCC. The proposed meeting shall be held on July 22 in Jammu and a message in this regard has been flashed to all the likeminded Congressmen, informed reliable sources in the dissident group. The proposed meeting is being organized to chalk out further strategy for exerting pressure on PCC president G A Mir and persuade him for reconstituting the Pradesh Congress Committee to get the left out Congressmen adjusted suitably in the State body. According to sources in the dissident group, the specific objective of the proposed meeting and allied activities of this camp are to ensure some quid pro quo for the nominations in District as well as Block Committees, which are yet to be formed. Unlike the time of PCC constitution, when a number of senior leaders-particularly from Azad group, were ignored for their inclusion in the State body, the dissident group does not want to adopt wait and watch policy this time, sources added. On the other hand, sources close to PCC president maintained that the activities of dissidents were on radar of the party as well as the high command, which has already been apprised of the anti-party acts of the group. The AICC general secretary and incharge J&K affairs, Ambika Soni, who is visiting J&K today, is also being apprised of the proposed meeting of the dissidents even as a close confident of the former is main sponsor of the July 22 gathering, sources added. |
