MP, MLAs boycott hurriedly convened Udhampur DDB meeting | | | Raj Sandeep Early Times Report Jammu, July 17: Two local MLAs and Member of Parliament boycotted the Udhampur board meeting called by the concerned minister from BJP at short notice. While talking to Early Times, Pawan Gupta, MLA Udhampur informed that a meeting of the District Development Board was called at the instance of its chairman, BJP Minister of Forest, who was reportedly on tour to Udhampur for some other purpose, which was held today on 17-7-16 by giving one day notice which was resented both by him and M.L. A Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat. It was told that Member of Parliament of the area also took a serious note of calling the high level meeting in an hush hush manner without giving reasonably adequate time to the members to prepare for review in the meeting, he informed, adding that MP conveyed his displeasure to the concerned District Development Commissioner for the agreeing to hold meeting at short notice. The sources informed that the seriousness of the BJP Minister can be measured from the fact that the minutes of the last meeting of the DDB which was held in Udhampur in the month of May 2016 under his chairmanship have neither been signed by the minister himself nor its minutes circulated to the concerned members including legislators to have perusal of the decisions approved for further action which paves way for review of ATRs. The sources informed that as per the laid down norms to strengthen the single line administration through the medium of District Development Boards, it is imperative that availability and consent of the concerned board members should be obtained well in time and proper meeting notice be given to them atleast one week earlier so that they come prepared to discuss the action taken reports and other related issues befittingly and also to raise the public problem in the DDB meeting for whom it has been constituted by the government. But in the instant case, the minister has crossed all the limits of official propriety and decorum to make it look like a dictatorial order to assert ministry as his personal fiefdom instead of being a seasoned action to achieve the purpose of holding the meeting. It was informed that except for NREGA scheme, funds have not so far been released for other schemes and hence no action has been taken for implementation of schemes, the sources told adding that what for such a meeting was hurriedly called and what review of the meeting was to be taken in the absence of proper agenda of the meeting and Action Taken Reports, they added. The sources further told that in this meeting which was held today, most of the Head of the Departments including few Chief Engineers of essential services departments could not make it attend the meeting due to a very short notice of one day and other offical preoccupations. The meeting which was held today , was nothing other than meeting, eating and cheating the public by representative of BJP. Ridiculing the action of the minister for such a display of impatience and casual attitude in official matter, the sources told that the state is already passing through a crucial juncture due to crisis of law and order in Kashmir for which these BJP ministers should focus more attention to bring the state out of the morass instead of showing eagerness on such purposeless meetings which entails wastage of time of administration, public money and above all an act of gross irresponsibility. |
