Sources said people of various tehsils including Mandi, Poonch, Surankot, Mendhar, Balakote and other hemlets express their resentment for shortage of kerosene oil in government depots causing great inconnievence to consumers in the district. They alleged that entire supply is being sold in black in open market to earn money. There are several other villages also where the inhabitants rue the shortage of kerosene oil.
It is pertinent to mention here that the kerosene is being used for other purposes that is why it is being sold in black. The menace is not being checked by the authorities despite the matter is very much in their notice including police and traffic department.
When asked why supply is so thin to district Assistant Director Food & Supplies told Early Times that we receive the kerosene supply only 2.60 kiloliters as per census 2001 requisite while we require more than 300 kiloliters but still demand is high, report has been submitted for supply kerosene as per the requirement of census 2011 which is to be implemented, the officer added.
District Development Commissioner MH Malik while hailing the report of Early Times said, you have brought the situation in my notice and a team will be constituted to find out the facts about the blackmarketting of kerosene oil in the district, DDC added.
Meanwhile chairman youth club Mendhar advocate Nadeem Khan urged concerned Minister to look personally into the matter and ask the men at helm why the commodity is being sold in black in the district instead providing to domestic consumers, Khan said.
