Mandi, July 17: Rural Development Department which has won accolades for work done during the last financial year is again under storm and this time over non existing of Swachh Bharat Mission bathrooms in some of the Panchayats. The residents of Dunugam, Bedar and Sathar said that what lies on paper is not existing on ground. They said that some blue eyed officials are involved in the wrong practices in which they have constructed bathrooms on paper but on ground, people got nothing.
They demanded an immediate inquiry into the matter so that the culprits be brought to justice. They questioned the working of BDO Office Mandi and Sathra and said that both the offices are known for playing foul tactics during the last financial year.
They said that bathrooms which were constructed during previous financial years have been shown as constructed during last financial year and huge amount was withdrawn. Locals said that let administration appoints an enquiry commission to find works on ground in these panchayats. They said that some blue eyed GRS and Secy panchayts are hand in glove and because of their corrupt practices, people of these panchayats are suffering.
They said that lot of people are still residing in these panchayats who are without bathroom but it's astonishing that department has projected itself in good terms through various means. Taking on some department officials, locals said that they brought this matter into the notice of concern Secy panchayats and GRS but nobody paid any heed to their demands. They said that they are now left with no option rather than approaching high ups of the Department. |
