Jammu, July 17: The composite culture and inclusiveness is intrinsic and built-in features of Jammu and Kashmir's ethos, and there is a need for integrating the state's rich diversity and heritage treasure into its tourism industry," Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla. Bhalla said this while attending Kalash Yatra taken out before establishing temple of Sant Kabir Dass at village Bhour Chatha area, here on Sunday. Kalash yatra started from Bhour Kullian and passed through Bhour, Chatha Mill, Govind Pura, Peer Baba, Shomali Mohalla, Raipur Satwari, Old Satwari. Bhalla while interacting with devotees highlighted the contribution of Sant Kabir in eradication of social evils from the society. "It was Sant Kabir who envisioned a society where every individual and community would be treated as equal," he added. "The messages in his writings were directed towards those whom we call in modern day language as below poverty line, were then called the downtrodden, poor, miserable, desolated and deprived of basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing", he said, added that the primary purpose of his legends was to "protest against social discrimination and economic exploitation". "All these teachings are relevant now more than ever because of intolerance of religions, castes and creeds. The relevance of his teachings is that he has given hope to the common people for God realization", he said. Speaking on the worst over law and order situation in valley, Bhalla said that instead of dealing on Kashmir with people who matter, the powers that be in Delhi deal only through the intelligence agencies, which is a major flaw. As a result, whether it is the MHA, PMO or the BJP, they remain disconnected with the ground realities in the Valley. |
