Encroachment on forest land goes unabated in Rajouri

Rajouri, July 19: Despite continued efforts of the District Forest Offices (DFO) to check deforestation, rampant encroachment of forest land is still on the rise, hence proving that measures that have been taken to stop it have so far been ineffective.
Some high profile people reportedly are hell bent to encroach forest land in Rajouri and as per officioal recorded available with Early Times out of 73069 hectares of total forest land in Subdivision-Rajouri about 1946.3. Hactre forest land has been illegally encroached by land mafia.
He added that In Noushera Sub Division out of total 59071 hectare of forest land about 383 hectares of forest land is under illegal encroachment. Forest official have many times approached these illegal encroachers fir vacating forest Land but but various initiates did not succeed in it.
While talking to early times DFO. Rajouri Anup Soni said that during the year 2015 180.9 hectare land was taken back from encroachers and department has damaged illegal structures which were raised on forest land.
As per DFO illegal encroachment on forest Land is not possible without the active help of revenue department. He categorically said that revenues officials are allegedly involved in this encroachment process.
Local also alleged that besides this political pressure and political interference is also responsible for illegal encroachment as when ever forest department goes to vacate forest land, phone calls from ministers.
