No takers of Geelani's conditions for peace in valley | | | Raj Sandeep
Early Times Report Jammu, July 19: Geelan's condition for restoration of peace in the Valley finds no takers. Geelani has urged the government to accept the right to self determination of the people of Kashmir. According to media reports, Geelani said : "accept the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir, announce the acceptance of people's right to self determination, demilitarization , repeal AFSPA and Public Safety Act, release all the political prisoners from the prisons, detention centres, house arrests and allow UN special Rapporteurs, all international human rights and humanitarians organizations to work in the state". Reacting to one of his demands, Union Home Minister has termed the main demand of holding plebiscite as an outdated one and outrightly rejected it while stating in the Upper House of Parliament yesterday. This should be sufficient enough for the separatists to understand the intention of the government for throwing such conditions, a political analyst said. Viewing these conditions as absolutely irresponsible and stretch of his imagination, Rattan Lal Bhat, a veteran educationist asked the separatist leader, who owes an explanation to the people of state and the country saying that what was the fault of those sons of the soil who were forced to come out of the four walls of their homes and risk their lives while indulging into seditious acts against the state which is ruled by well recognized government as per the constitutional provisions democratically elected by the people of the state, he added. What have they achieved so far by hatching conspiracies with complicity of neighbouring country for years despite hundreds of deaths of innocents young generation and huge destruction of public property and what they will now attain by dreaming of something which is impossible and unacceptable to the nation come what may, said Gurnam Singh adding that instead of living in a fool's paradise, it is better to acknowledge the present status of the state as an integral part of India. Neetu Charak, who is lawyer by profession has termed the provocation of youth by separatists as a breach of faith with their own generation and said that it is very easy to emotionally exploit the gullible Kashmiris on the name of azadi and throw hapless youth of Kashmir in a situation which is full of fire and frustration. Adding that if these contractors of separatism are honest from the core of their heart for propagating "azadi " day in and day out, then what hindered them so far for avoiding to teach this lesson to their own children asking them to plunge into this fire of seeking azadi. This speaks of double yard stick of these separatists who have cleverly kept them out of self created hell in Kashmir and heaving a sigh of relief in other part of the country and abroad where they are heaving a sigh of relief pursuing their career conformably, she questioned. Pointing out that peace loving people in the state have seen for themselves the destructive aftermath of releasing over about five hundreds stone pelters from jails on humanitarian grounds giving them clemency to mend their ways, Gourav Dev Singh, a retired army officer, said that human touch displayed by the government as a good will gesture has sharply shown its adverse repercussions leading to serious law and order problem created by crowds of stone pelters in which even militants have reportedly sneaked to make their presence felt with locals. Was it a BJP's decision of prudence sharing power in the government, he asked. He further said that a pity showered by the government on jailed stone pelters has ostensibly mismatched the timings without anticipating the consequences of such a hasty action and added that it should serve as an eye opener for the state administration which is supported by BJP leaders having no say in governance. Rather the government should spurn all the conditions set by Geelani with one stroke of firm determination and curb the rising flow of lawlessness in the valley with iron hand restoring the pristine glory of Kashmir as heaven on the earth instead of further allowing these anti national elements to permanently make it a hell for which they fully look hell bent to do so, he rued. |
