Guilty of misleading LA, MD JKHC escapes any action | | | Early Times Report srinagar, July 19: The Government is yet to initiate action against the Managing Director (MD) of J&K Handicrafts Corporation in-spite of the fact that he provided false information to state legislative Assembly during its recent session. The MD JKHC had shown utmost disrespect to state legislature, by providing misleading and incorrect information about the appointments made by the corporation during last three years. Details available with Early Times reveal that a member of state legislature had asked Government about the appointments made in State Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO) , SICOP, JK Cements , and Handicrafts Corporation. To this question the Managing Director JKHC said that his corporation had not made any such appointments from last 3 years. But as per reliable sources , Managing Director JKHC had made as many as four appointments in the Handcrafts (S&E) Corporation. The said backdoor appointees are as on date posted in various branches of Handicrafts Corporation. These backdoor appointees include Syed Anzar posted at Residency Road branch Jammu. Gousia posted as head office of Handicrafts Corporation Srinagar . Richa posted at Residency road branch Jammu, fourth one is posted at Baba Kharag Singh Marg branch of Handicrafts Corporation. Sources say that these influential people have been appointed in JKHC in violation of rules and the MD deliberately mislead the state legislature by providing misleading information about these appointments. Providing incorrect and misleading information to state legislature is considered to be a heinous crime , and the officer who provides such misleading information to legislature can even lose his job. Pertinent to mention that few years back Power Development Department (PDD) had provided misleading information to legislative council during its August 2014 session. The information was sought by present Education Minister Naeem Akhtar who was MLC during that time. Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had moved a privilege motion against the state power minister for providing "false and misleading" information to the House. Akhter had sought details of amount sanctioned and released for the relief and rehabilitation of affected villages of Kishen Ganga Hydel Project in the Bandipora district of North Kashmir by the government and National Hydel Power Corporation (NHPC). The Power portfolio was being held by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself, while Viqar Rasool was the minister of state for Power. The Minister in-charge Power in his written reply had stated that the relief and rehabilitation plan for the project was under examination of the government. However, Akhtar had alleged the answer was "completely false" as the government had received a report from the CBI on June 18, 2014. Akhtar gave a copy of the CBI report, submitted to Secretary of General Administration Department, to the then Legislative Council Chairman Amrit Malhotra and moved a privilege motion against the concerned minister. In view of false information provided by MD Handicrafts Corporation, not only the MD was supposed to bear the consequences , but the Minister in charge of Industries and Commissioner Secretary Industries was supposed to take action against him , but nobody has dared to take action against him. |
