One killed, two injured over land feud; two booked | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, July 19: At least one person was killed and two others were injured when two groups clashed over a land feud a village under the jurisdiction of Sunderbani Police Station in Rajouri district on the intervening night of July 18/19. Meanwhile police taking cognizance have arrested two persons in this regard. According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Jia Lal s/o Balak Ram while the accused identified as Tara Chand and his son Subhash Chander have been arrested by the police. Sources said, of the two injured wife of Jia Lal namely Shakuntla Devi and her son Ramesh Chander have been referred to Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu owing to critical injuries. Police sources said Balak Ram father of the deceased Jia Lal had donated some 7 kanal to his daughter Guddi Devi wife of accused Tara Chand in village Saleri in Sunderbani tehsil of Rajouri but the land in question has not been transferred yet in name of Guddi Devi- the beneficiary . Meantime Jia Lal had approached the Revenue Officials and reportedly court for the possession of the land which has embittered the relations between the two sides. "At about 12.30pm yesterday, Jia Lal, his wife Shankuntla Devi and son Subhash Chander entered the land and started sowing with the help of tractor and when matter came to knowledge of Tara Chand and his son they also rushed to spot. Soon both families got engaged in heated exchange of words which soon turned into scuffle" said inspector Ravinder Parihar, SHO , Sunderbani giving details of events. Quoting the injured lady and her son, he said that the duo claimed Jia Lal was hit with a sharp edged weapon on the head while in a bid to save him the duo (his wife and son) also received injuries. "Shakuntla Devi and Subhash Chander rushed to police station to inform it while leaving behind Jia Lal as he also disappeared from the spot, he added. Police reached the spot at about 1.30 pm but didn't find Jia Lal. Meanwhile wife of Jia Lal was referred to GMC&H Jammu with serious injuries. Meanwhile police during investigation at the spot recovered body of Jia Lal the bushes. Police have booked Tara Chand and his son Ramesh Chander in murder case in case FIR NO 46/16 under sections 302 /307 RPC and both have been arrested. Local have protested against police alleging delayed action has left Jia lal dead. However police denying all such allegations after completing legal formalities and autopsy handed over the body to family for his last rites. |
