Uncertainty over Bally bridge on Harni-Nar road looms on as it misses 'deadline' | | | M S Nazki Early Times Report
Poonch, July 19: The bally bridge on Harni -Nar road again had missed another dead line as the construction work of the said bridge has been stopped due to financial constraints, sources said here today. Sources said, "For the last four months no construction work of the bridge has been going on." "Authorities have even failed to complete the alignment of the bridge despite lakhs of rupees have gone down the drain, sources and added, "this bridge has perhaps become a geese laying golden eggs for which tenders were being floated every year but work never is being completed giving benefit to contractors." "Since Independence the only bridge on 10-Km long Harni-Nar road has offered connecting to many villages including Harni, Nar, Barat, Sanjoit, Mohra Keelar, Gultha and is benefitting nearly 25000 souls sources said, while adding since march the construction work on this bridge was all of a sudden by PWD R&B Sub Division Poonch for the reasons best known to them. While Talking to Early Times XEn PWD R&B Sub Division Poonch said due to lack of funds the construction has been stopped as the cost of project is Rs 90 lakh while as total cost of the bally bridge stands at Rs 1.5 crore. Mendhar Youth club Chairman Advocate Nadeem Khan urged district administration to make available funds for the construction of the said bridge as the affected people were facing hardships in its absence. Meantime taking the cognizance of matter District Development Commissioner MH Malik directed the concerned department to start the construction work and ensure the completion of said bridge within fortnight and so far as funds are concerned it will be made available within no time, source said. |
