Nitish slams JMC, UEDD | Seeks adequate assistance to deal monsoon season | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 31: Nitish Mahajan PDP Zonal President Gandhi Nagar Zone on Sunday slammed JMC and UEED for not doing enough to gear up their men and machinery to provide adequate assistance to residents during monsoon season. He was speaking during an interaction with people of various sectors of Trikuta Nagar including-Preet Nagar, Pridashne lane, Khoo Wali Gali, Bhawani Vihar, Basant Vihar, who were subjected to undue ordeal due to incessant rain and flooding. "Surprisingly, the spell of heavy Monsoon rain, which wrecked havoc in many areas, exposed tall claims of Jammu Municipal Corporation and UEED regarding fortification against flooding and taming of Nallahs", Nitish Mahajan said adding choked Nallahs and drains led to water logging in many areas damaging property worth lakhs. "Nallah in Trikuta Nagar area washed away several lanes and entered many houses. Mahajan while interacting with the media person informed that large number of business establishments and houses located in low lying areas of Trikuta Nagar were flooded with muddy water and spoiled their goods and house hold material. Despite carrying out cleaning operations of lanes and drains ahead of the monsoon season the area witnessed water logging. Even posh areas of Trikuta Nagar witnessed flooding of water due to illegal construction over open lanes and big 'nallahs'. |
