Pilgrimage to holy cave progressing smoothly, 2.13 lakh paid obeisance so far

Srinagar, July 31: " Har har Mahadev" and Bum Bum Bolay rented in the air as fresh batches of pilgrims left for the holy Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir, where so far 2.13 lakh yatris had paid obeisance since the commencement of the 48-day-long pilgrimage from July 2 from both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal tracsk.
Pilgrimage to holy cave is progressing smoothly and weather was also pleasant, a yatra official said this morning. Pilgrims, who had night halt at Panjterni reached the cave shrine this morning and paid obeisance. He said 1,115 pilgrims, including women and sadhus, had paid obeisance at the cave shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas yesterday. He added fresh batch of pilgrims today left Baltal base camp for the cave shrine early this morning. The pilgrims are likely to reach the cave shrine later this afternoon after covering the hilly terrain on foot. Meanwhile, pilgrims who had darshan at the cave shrine yesterday and stayed there have also started their return journey for Baltal base camp early this morning. Another batch of pilgrims left for Nunwan Pahalgam base camp early this morning, he said adding the pilgrims will have night stay at Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station before starting journey to next halting station tomorrow morning.
Similarly pilgrims, who had night halt at different halting stations, including Pisso top and Mahagus on traditional Pahalgam route have also started their onward journey towards the cave shrine this morning.
