Jammu, July 31 : First Additional Sessions Judge, M A Chowdhary has rejected the bail application of an alleged narco-smuggler. Vicky, son of Nandu of Marthi Mohalla, Trikuta Nagar, was booked by police in NDPS case after 120 grams of opium was recovered from him during his frisking at a naka point at railway station here over a fortnight ago.
He was then arrested and booked under section 8/18 of NDPS Act. After hearing the two sides, the judge observed that the epidemic of drugs in young generation had assumed alarming dimensions in India. "The illicit drugs have a high addiction potential and there is a gradual increase in their intake, getting the users dependent on them both physically and psychologically. The deadly menace, a major problem in the society, requires to be checked through strengthening the reinforcement," he said. With these observations, the court rejected his bail application. JNF |
