Despite strike, restrictions 'Karvan-e-Aman' bus leaves for PoK | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 8: Despite curfew and strike, the 'Karvan-e-Aman' weekly bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) left here for Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector in north Kashmir. "Yes the bus left Srinagar at 0400 hrs this morning to avoid any protests and stone pelting," official source told UNI. They said the bus with three Kashmiri residents, crossing over to POK to meet their relatives separated in 1947 due to partition, has since reached Kaman post. Sources said six POK residents, including four women, also left for their residence after completing stay in Kashmir with their relatives. The actual number of those travelling in the cross-LoC bus will be known in the afternoon, they said. The bus service introduced on April 7, 2005 has helped thousands of divided families to meet each other after India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of state subjects from both sides on Travel Permits instead of International passports. |
