Ahead of I-Day, Police constitutes 2 Anti- Fidayeen squads
Threat letter creates panic

Jammu, Aug 8: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) today ordered constitution of two teams of Anti-Fidayeen Squads to tackle any untoward incident following threat letter received by Jammu Police and a media office of the national daily, threatening multiple blasts in Jammu, on the upcoming Independence Day.
"A letter was received by the office of SSP Jammu and a national Hindi daily office, wherein it was threatened to carry out a series of blasts in the district on I-Day," police sources here today said.
The SSP Jammu Sunil Gupta has ordered to constitute two teams of Anti-Fidayeen Squads to tackle any untoward incident as both the teams will work day and night.
Sources claimed that two teams of reserve cops have been constituted which will act as a reinforcement for the Special operation Group (SOG) which is ever ready to launch militancy operations. However, a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) is already there to tackle any unprecedented incident and the two teams of the squad will be on toes round the clock.
The letters are being taken seriously but can also be the handiwork of mischievous elements according to sources in the police and the truth would come out today.
Police sources said that a team would be sent to the post office to ascertain the location that the letter was originally sent from. Since the letters were received late on Saturday, the investigation could not be taken up.
Acting swiftly on the threatening letter, a case under FIR no 187/16 under sections 153-B (1), 505- 1 (B) registered at Gandhi Nagar police station.
The letter also mentions names of different schools and the police spokesperson clarified that teams would also be sent to different schools in the city for 'gathering information'.
The letter has been signed by one Masood who has threatened to attack 50,000 residents from Jammu city.
The letter titled ISIS 15 August mentions the names of targeted areas in a drawn up map such as Jammu's Bus Stand, Railway Station, Gole Market, KC, Bikram Chowk, Jammu University, Raghunath Temple, Civil Secretariat, Ranbir Higher Secondary School, DPS among other spots.
They said police is trying to find out whether it is a handiwork of some mischievous elements or an authentic document, adding, "Teams have also constituted and dispatched at different locations, schools, the names of which were reportedly mentioned in the letter."
Meanwhile, high level meetings were also conducted and officers were directed to remain extra vigilant and raiding of special naka points to check entry of any anti national element.
The SSP Jammu Sunil Gupta when contacted said that they have increased the security grid and are ready to tackle any untoward incident.
