Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 8: A senior IAS officer, who was fired on the directions of Chief Minister, a few months back was rehabilitated during the recent cabinet reshuffle due to a senior BJP minister lobbying for him.
Details available with Early Times reveal that a senior IAS officer who was previously posted as Commissioner Secretary Housing & Urban development was fired after he was said to have been allegedly involved in some deal with a Delhi based waste to energy-company.
The officer was posted as Chairman J&K Special Tribunal which is considered to be an unimportant posting for an IAS officer.
The senior IAS officer managed to get rehabilitated within just 3 months and last week he was posted as Commissioner Secretary Transport after BJP leaders came to his rescue and build up a pressure on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
The proposal of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to install an Incinerator based waste to energy plant at Achan landfill site in Srinagar has been stalled by the Government as a high powered committee headed by Commissioner Secretary Power would again go through this proposed project.
The said waste to energy project was the idea put forward by the IAS officer who along with SMC Commissioner had allegedly finalized a deal with a New Delhi based company which works on how to convert waste into energy.
Pertinently, Officials in Urban Development Department and Srinagar Municipal Corporation had a few meetings with representatives of New Delhi based company some months back and a deal was fixed with them to install an Incinerator based technology at Achan in Srinagar. Sources said that all this was done to favour the firm at the cost of state exchequer.
Sources said the firm has already installed a similar waste to energy plant in Delhi outskirts and the residents of that particular area (Okhla) are up in the arms against them for putting people to risk.
It's in place to mention here that in the past several rallies and protests were taken out in Delhi against setting up of a waste-generating plant near a residential area, when the same is not allowed under environment protection laws.
In order to ensure transparency in allotment of work for waste to energy project the Chief Minister had directed for constitution of a committee to look into waste to energy project in Srinagar.
The committee is headed by Administrative Secretary Power. The Government has issued an order in this regard vide Govt order No: 383-GAD of 2016 dated 1 .8 2016. Other members of the committee are Administrative Secretary Finance , Urban Development , Law & Justice.
Sources said that a senior BJP Minister came to the rescue of IAS officer and got him rehabilitated.
He he was prematurely transferred from the post of Commissioner Secretary Housing & Urban Development and was posted as Chairman Special Tribunal which deals with cases related to Land Revenue matters.
