Chaktroo -Pothi road awaits completion after lapse of ten years

Poonch, Aug 8: The Pardhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yogna (PMGSY) Poonch has failed to complete three kilometers road stretch from Chaktroo to Pothi after investing more than two crore rupees and a long time of ten years.
Layaqat Taj Chouhan, a local resident of village Pothi informed Early Times that state government has sanctioned link road from Chaktroo to Pothi and another link from Chaktroo to Narhad had been started about ten years back when PMGSY pasted a board of information on which more than Rs two crore were written.
A long period of ten years has been passed away the executing agency PMGSY, but the lackadaisical approach of department concern the earth work of said road is still incomplete.
Till date the executing agency has only completed earth work of about two kilometres.
He further said that the village is situated around twelve kilometers away from district headquarters, many times people of the village urged the higher authorities of the said department but all in vain, and only assured that the construction work of the road was initiated within months but years gone nothing has done at ground.
Another local in this regard said he wanted to take this matter to deputy commissioner Poonch many times, but unfortunately he wasn't able to meet DC. He informed Early Times that the road from Chaktroo to Narhad is under NABARD scheme of PWD where the department has totally failed to facilitate the locals.
He said while he wanted to file RTI application to seek complete information of said road, but the employees of the department rejected his application and said that the Executive Engineer is not present to answer.
The people of village appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to direct district administration and agency concern to early resumption of their construction, so that people of the area do not suffer more.
