CEO Rajouri takes measures to attract children to Govt schools | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Aug 8: Chief Education Officer ,Rajouri has taken up several mrasures to enhance enrollment in the government schools which includes improvement in the academic standard, face lifting of the present schools, proposal of Happy School (in collaboration with Rotary International), repair work of present schools , improvement of infrastructure and many other such initiatives. But despite presentations on the papers no improvement has been reported from the schools situated in far off and rural areas and children are still sitting in the open due to worst condition of class rooms. Not to talk about the teachers and government employees even the people do not prefer to send their wards to government schools which are lacking behind in infrastructure, good buildings and other facilities like in the private institutions despite the fact that the government schools having well qualified teachers. In many schools the rooms are in such a bad condition that school administration have abandoned these rooms and are being used by the villagers as cattle sheds after school hours. The situation is no better in the schools situated just few hundred meters from Jammu-Poonch high way. Recently Vibodh Gupta , MLC visited Government higher Secondary school at Chingus and he was informed by the principal Ashok Sharma that the school was constructed in the year 1970 and the building at present is in dilapidated condition. "Due to poor condition of the school building any mishap may take place at any time thus putting the lives of the students and staff at high risk" said principal. Vibodh Gupta, MLC expressed his anguish over the functioning of the concerned departments alleging that as per an information available with him a detailed project report (DPR) for Rs 53 lakhs was prepared for the construction of new school building . "It is astonishing that the DPR has not been implemented yet by the concerned officials. Not only was this Rs 7.5 lakh also sanctioned for the renovation of the existing building but the authorities concerned have also failed to utilized this amount, which is clear negligence on part of successive governments" said Vibodh Gupta. While addressing the students and staff members MLC assured them that soon he will take up the matter with Naeem Akhter, Education Minister so that the necessary action may be taken soon as for as this premier institution is concerned. In another glaring example a middle school at Barwari under Mughla Education zone is being run in two rooms with a enrolled strength of students about 100. As per information the school is having 6 rooms but the four rooms are in such a decaying condition that the school administration doesn't take risk to held classes in these rooms. "One room is used for office work and in the other room only two classes can be conducted at a time. Several deputations met with the concerned Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) and Chief Education Officer (CEO) either to repair the existing rooms or to construct new school building. But despite hollow promises no concrete action was taken by these officials" said Suresh Kumar & Mohd Mushtaq. "Detailed report for the repairs/renovation of government school falling under Moughla Zone has already been submitted to the higher authorities & it was expected that soon the funds will be released. In the recent district Development Board Meeting CEO had claimed that all the institution heads have been directed for the face lifting of the schools from their schools/SSA & RMSA funds. Not only this, Rs 196 lacs have been approved for the repairs of (minor/majors) 120 schools in the district (Only in Rajouri district of J&K State), also had claimed CEO.Now the question is when this money will be released and when it will reach to the heads of 120 schools. |
