AMO fails to act upon approval of MC ESIC | Employees deprived of diagnostic facilities | | Arun Singh Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 9: Despite lapse of two months, the Administrative Medical Officer (AMO) ESI Scheme seems reluctant to take action on the approval given by State Medical Commissioner (SMC) Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) for tie up with nursing homes, diagnostic centers, with employees working in private sectors deprived of diagnostic facilities within the vicinity of state run ESI dispensaries. Sources told Early Times that the employees working in private sector had been raising the demand for streamlining the system of carrying out medical tests prescribed by the Medical Officers of dispensaries for the last many years, which are governed by the State Government, are still has to get it done through complicated procedures. "Taking cognizance of the long pending demand of the employees, SMC ESIC took a decision to simplify the system of providing diagnostic facilitates to the employees conveying its approval about two months back asking the AMO to take a necessary steps for tying up with centers so that the patients could get the prescribed tests done by the doctors at the nearest labs empanelled and hassle free ," they said further adding that although all the cost of the diagnostic tests has to be borne by the ESIC yet the AMO has miserably failed to make such arrangements which shows the apathetic attitude of the State government towards the welfare of the its employees who are working in private industries, firms and having low income. They further said that this demand had been put up in Hospital Development Committee (HDC) meetings and Local Committees of ESI for giving permission to doctors of ESI dispensaries for allowing the patients diagnostic tests to the insured person and as well as their dependents for better treatment. "In the last meeting held at ESI Model Hospital Bari Brahmana on August 3, 2016 in which it was proved that it is the duty of AMO to get tie up arrangements with the hospitals, nursing homes and diagnostic labs to whom with ESIC has already in tie up and all the expenses on the this account will be borne by the ESIC," they divulged. The further informed that the employees who are insured under ESI scheme have to deduct a fixed amount from their wages on monthly basis to avail the facility from eight ESI dispensaries in state including four in Jammu and equal number in Kashmir region. "The four ESI dispensaries which include ESI Talab Tillo, ESI Digiana, ESI Bari Brahmana and ESI Kathua have been deprived of all range of diagnostic facilities putting the employees into great distress and had to undergo difficulties," they said. |
