Natrang stages Dogri play 'Bawa Jitto' | | | Early Times Report
Katra, Oct 9: Four day series of internationally acclaimed presentations of Natrang concluded here today at the auditorium of Spiritual Growth Centre, SMVDSB, Katra with the presentation of most celebrated Dogri play 'Bawa Jitto'. Four Day series featured two performances each of 'Celebrating Diversity' and the Dogri play 'Bawa Jitto' both conceptualized and designed by Balwant Thakur. Entire four day series was supported by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Katra. Written by Prof Ram Nath Shastri and Directed by Balwant Thakur, this electrifying performance of Natrang transported the entire audience to a 15th century life of Duggerland, it's amazing culture and the supreme sacrifice of the hero of farmers 'Bawa Jitto'. 'Bawa Jitto have been a great devotee of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi who used to climb the Trikuta hill every morning to offer prayers at the shrine. This series was inaugurated by Ajeet Sahu CEO of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board with the lighting of traditional lamp and thrown open the scintillating shows for general public. Earlier speaking on the occasion Natrang Director Balwant Thakur thanked Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for supporting Natrang ende-avours in preserving and promoting the priceless heritage of the hills of Mata Vaishno Devi and also supporting the sustenance of Internationally acclaimed Dogri play 'Bawa Jitto' which has made a history for being the longest living theatre play of India. The tragic story of Bawa Jitto portrays the age-old saga of exploitation of landless farmers by landlords. Due to the constant and persistent pressures of relatives, with a piece of land as bone of contention, Bawa Jitto, a hard working, farm less farmer is forced to leave his native village. |
