Border people allege lack of basic amenities, LoC calm | | | MS NAZKI Early Times Report Poonch, Nov 3: Though there were no report of shelling near LoC in Poonch district since yesterday afternoon yet the residents of Balakote, Mendhar and Mankote sectors alleged that there were shortage of basic amenities, sources said. Sources said since Wednesday afternoon no shelling reports from across the border were received and there has been uneasy calm on LoC. In Wednesday's morning shelling 2 civilians were injured who were admitted in SDH Mendhar. Locals living near LoC alleged that they were lacking basic amenities like drinking water, electricity, ration and other things. The district administration did not pay any heed to their plight despite repeated requests. They said we cannot leave our houses and cattles as we live on a rough terrain. They urged the authorities to provide basic amenities to cope up with the situation. People were still in panic though there has been no report of shelling since Wednesday afternoon. But locals alleged that they have no medical facility here. "We need a critical care Ambulance to evacuate our injured to hospitals" said locals. It is pertinent to mention here that Balakote, Mendhar and Mankote areas of the Poonch district were mainly targeted by Pakistan rangers during ongoing skirmishes taking place on Border. |
