"Brave" BJP ministers visiting safer areas of border belts | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 3: The self-styled valiant BJP leaders including party ministers are avoiding tour to the areas which are badly affected by the shelling from Pakistan. Instead of visiting to shelling affected areas, BJP ministers, who are first time enjoying power in J&K, prefer to hold meetings in the safer areas because they don't want to take any risk at this point of time. It appears that for BJP ministers are least bothered about those families who have lost their family members in the recent shelling from across the border. Credible sources said that before conducting tour of any border area, BJP ministers and leaders first take assurance from the concerned administration about their own safety before leaving for any areas. No BJP leader included ministers have so far visited the worst affected Ramgarh area of Samba district. While some of the ministers preferred to hold review meeting from their offices while some others visited safer areas to discuss problems of the affected families. According to reports in media BJP leaders, including ministers, did not attend the last rites of any of the eight civilians, including two minors, killed in Pakistani shelling on Tuesday, fearing reactions from angry border residents. Meanwhile according to official handout, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today visited the shelling affected areas in Samba and Kathua to interact with "affected" families and take on the spot appraisal of the situation. He also received brief from the district administration regarding the measures put in place to provide necessary help to the affected people. Dr Singh met the people of border areas at village Rajpura of block Ghagwal District Samba where he listened to their demands which were mainly related to compensation for damaged crop, waiver of farmer loans against crop, immediate requirement of bunkers, special recruitment drive for border youths, permanent camps during evacuation, availability of veterinary doctors for treatment of injured livestock and improved connectivity of border areas. |
