JKPSC undecided on interviews for Astt Prof posts in Pol Sc subject | Hr Education depts failure to respond to JKPSC's letter major hurdle | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 3: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) is still indecisive over conducting interviews for the posts of Assistant Professors for Colleges in Political Science subject. The delay is due to failure of Higher Education department to reply the letter forwarded by JKPSC, seeking reply over whether to allow students of International Relations (IR) for appearing in interviews for the posts of Political Science or not. Sources in JKPSC informed Early Times that nearly two months ago, they had forwarded a communiqué to Higher Education department, seeking their reply over the issue of including students of International Relations for the post of Political Science or not. "Some students having qualification as MA in International Relations had approached JKPSC, with the plea that in many universities and other states, the students of International Relations are allowed for interviews of Assistant Professors in Political Science subject", sources said, adding that initially these candidates were not allowed as there would be many other candidates, including those of Public Policy and Public Administration, who could claim for the posts. The official further said that the students of Political Science had also showed their resentment against any attempt to include students of International Relations. "The students of Political Science are not allowed for the posts of International Relations anywhere in the country and only students of International relations are allowed for such posts. The Political Science aspirants have projected their case in such a way", the official said, adding that the aspirants of Political Science had objected to any such inclusion. The official further said that there were apprehensions that if students of International Relations would be allowed the students of Political Science might knock the door of court. "To avoid any such court case the JKPSC had forwarded the matter to Higher Education department as the posts were forwarded to JKPSC by them", the official said, adding that the onus lied on Higher Education department, to allow them or not. The communication was forwarded to Higher Education department, nearly two months back but so far there is no reply from their side on the issue of allowing International Relations students for the posts of Political Science. "The Higher Education department might have asked the Universities of the state and a decision will be taken. Whenever the Higher Education department will reply, the interview schedule will be announced", the official said. He further said that the JKPSC would not wait too long and probably in the ending of November or in the first week of December the interviews would be conducted. He also informed that same was the case with the posts of Commerce subject on which JKPSC had sought reply from Higher Education department and the reply was received and soon the interviews for the posts would be conducted. |
