Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 3: Following initiation of contempt proceedings against Channi Himmat police station SHO for non-compliance of a court order, police today 'hurriedly' registered an FIR against an alleged rape victim in an impersonation case. The action comes after the sub-registrar, Jammu, Adnan Sayeed summoned the SHO for not registering the FIR against the woman who had lodged a gang rape complaint at Channi Himmat police station on September 26, 2016. Complainant Harnam Singh's son Jatinder Singh is one of the alleged gang rape accused and an FIR stands registered against him under sections 376 and 120-B of RPC. Harnam had filed a complaint under section 156 (3) of CrPC before the chief judicial magistrate, Jammu, on October 15, 2016 for registration of FIR against the alleged gang rape victim for changing her identity at different places. The rape victim has filed a case against the son of Maj Harnam and three others. In the complaint, her name is alleged to be different from the names mentioned in her passport and an FIR that has been registered against her at Katra police station under Excise Act. When police did not book the rape victim in a case of impersonation, Harnam moved the CJM's court. The complaint was transferred to the sub-registrar, Jammu, and on October 17, 2016, the SHO was directed to register FIR which he allegedly avoided. Taking cognizance of the complainant's contempt application, when the court summoned the SHO, he registered an FIR No 112 under section 419 of RPC and produced its original copy in the court. Talking to Early Times, Harnam said they had moved the court for a CBI inquiry into the alleged rape incident because his son 'was being falsely implicated'. |
