Early Times Report
Kathua, Nov 3: The Border Security Forces (BSF) foiled another infiltration bid across the International border on Thursday. Two terrorists who were trying to sneak in, were stopped by alert troops in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday afternoon. This comes a day after India registered its protest with Pakistan, about the increased tensions at the border and the resultant civilian injuries and deaths over the past few days. Diplomatic relations between the two countries have been spiralling down ever since the terror attack on the Army base in border town of Uri in Jammu and Kashmir, which lead to the death of 19 Indian Army jawans.
On Wednesday, India summoned Pakistan's Deputy High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah to register its protest against repeated ceasefire violations along Line of Control and International Border, which in the past week, killed as many as eight civilians and injured many others. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in a statement said that Syed was conveyed the "grave concern and strong protest" of the Indian government at the recent escalation of ceasefire violations. Both the countries have been summoning each other's diplomats almost on a daily basis now, with guns booming along the border, contrary to the aim of the 2003 Ceasefire Agreement.
This came even as six Pakistan Embassy officials reportedly left the country, via the Wagah border, after an espionage ring involving an Embassy official was busted. Intelligence agencies said that the accused officials were gathering crucial information about BSF posts along the border, which were probably going to be used in conducting terror strikes. BSF troops along the border have been increased, with frequent search operations also being conducted in several areas, after repeated warnings of a 'spectacular' terror strike being planned on India by militants and terrorists in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
Inspector General, Border Security Force (BSF) D.K. Upadhyaya on Wednesday assures that the BSF has been retaliating appropriately to the ceasefire violations. "The BSF retaliation was very accurate and measured. Our accurate and co-ordinate firing on various posts has resulted in very heavy damage to a number of their posts," he said yesterday, asserting that the troops only target militants and were very particular about safeguarding human rights. "We are fully prepared to give a befitting reply to any such attempt and we have already failed number of infiltration attempts by the terrorists trying to get into the Indian side," he added.
