Quell bigotry, violence for durable peace and tranquility: Chaman | | | Jammu, Nov 3: For durable peace and tranquility, the bigotry and violence must be quelled. This is a golden law for solution of any vexed problem or even dispute. This was observed by former union Minister, Chaman Lal Gupta while talking to callers on him from Kashmir who wanted to know his views to have dialogue with the agitating jehadis including the separatists and their handlers in the cross border from Pakistan. Gupta said that dialogue is not bad. Many things could be settled in an atmosphere of peace and desire for friendship but in Kashmir the agitators are opting extreme postures as if they are sole proprietors of the state, which is far from fact. They are confined to certain parts of the valley alone and they have hardly any presence in Jammu and Ladakh. He recalled that these separatist leaders for first time in 1972 had secured five seats in the State Assembly but for good will of the then Congress rulers. In 1977 Assembly poll they could get only one seat, that was of Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Now after opting for violence they are trying to pose real masters of the State by making lakhs of Kashmiris and others in the valley as their hostages. This is a sad situation which is unacceptable. The callers on Gupta narrated their woes that how the stone pelters and other youngsters appear on the streets and resort to thrashing the poor vendors, auto drivers and others who try to work for their two ends meet. Only job for them is being left to join the ranks of perpetrators of violence and coercions. Gupta questioned those who in the situation are parroting for dialogue, what could be the basis for dialogue and with whom. No such a concrete suggestion has been made. He pointed out that there is constitution and also the resolve of the Parliament. Who under the oath of constitution cannot think to talk beyond the limits even, if he or she does not intend to play dubious as some have been doing so in Kashmir as also somewhere else. |
