Miscreants set auto rickshaw ablaze, lady injured during protest | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report Anantnag, Nov 3: Miscreants set ablaze an auto rickshaw plying on Khanabal-Anantnag (KP) road at Krengsoo on Thursday late evening for defying Syed Ali Shah Geelani's Call of Bandh while a woman was injured during stone pelting on vehicular traffic at Lal Chowk. Reports said that at around 08:30 pm some miscreants set an auto rickshaw afire on K P Road near Al Sarwat Crossing. "The Auto rickshaw suffered massive damages," A police official confirming the incident said. Police spokesperson said, "Miscreants in order to discourage the public transport from plying on roads, set ablaze an auto rickshaw belonging to Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Doonipawa, Ananatnag on K P Road near Al Sarwat Crossing." "Due to timely action by police fire was brought under control but the rickshaw suffered huge damages. An FIR under relevant sections of Law has been registered at Police Station Mattan to identify and arrest the culprits," official police spokesperson said. Police spokesperson further said, "Some miscreants, in order to intimidate the civilians and to discourage the private transport from plying pelted stones upon the vehicular traffic at Lal Chowk today at 1920 hrs in which one woman Tasleema Begum, wife of Ali Mohammad, Sheikh Resident of Seepora, Anantnag received injury on the left side of her face." "The injured was shifted to District Hospital Anantnag for treatment," spokesperson added. He said that Police have taken cognizance and registered a case under relevant sections of law to identify and arrest the 'culprits'. Meanwhile a fourteen year old was killed by a speeding vehicle when the boy was allegedly throwing stones along with other boys at Iqbalabad area of Anantnag district. Police have identified 14 year-old deceased as Suhail Ahmad Wagay, son of Nazir Ahmad Wagay, resident of Pehru- also known as Iqbalabad. Police said that that the boy was part of a group of youth who were pelting stones on vehicles for defying shutdown. Police have registered a case and probe has been started," he said. This is the first incident of its kind when a stone throwing boy has been killed after being hit by the vehicle. |
