Renaming road from Tral to Awantipora after Burhan a dangerous signal | Talibanisation of Kashmir | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 11: Things are not normal in Kashmir. Things appear abnormal. It appears that Talibans are ruling roost in parts of the Valley and playing havoc with the history and culture of Kashmir. Some of them have gone so perverted that they are creating Afghanistan-like situation in the Valley. On Wednesday, they took an extreme step and renamed the road from Tral to Awantipora after Burhan Wani, Hizb terrorist, who was killed by the security forces on July 8 as he carried on head a reward of Rs ten lakh. A report from Srinagar in this regard said local people of Dadsara and adjoining villages "unanimously decided to name the road from Tral to awantipora via Nawadal as Burhan Wani road". Aznnouncement to this effect was made by Hurriyat leader Imtiyaz Reshi, who is head of the J&K Young Mens League. Reshi said that he, along with many other Hurriyat leaders, "managed to visit the area, where the locals had made all the required arrangements in this regard and banners were raised to name this road in presence of large gathering of locals, including young and old". The administration should have acted then and there and booked them for their outrageous act. That it didn't happen and all went scot-free after denigrating the road only suggest that it was the writ of the Talibans which ran in the area and the local administration had no other option but to watch as a mute spectator the anti-national acts. One can only hope and pray that the state government would act and act fast and arrest the trend at the earliest at whatever cost. Any laxity on the part of the administration would only embolden the Talibans in the Valley and the results would be very disastrous. |
