Demonetisation gives sleepless nights to Govt employees in JK | | | Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 11: Chaos prevailed across the country since Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes were withdrawn by the Centre in a sudden move on November 8. In J&K, the move is giving sleepless nights to doctors and other government employees. Official sources told Early Times that few doctors of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu and its associated hospitals have 'disappeared' after the Centre announced demonetisation of the currency notes. "Like many other government employees, these doctors are also worried and went missing from the hospital. They are probably finding way to save their black money," said sources. "It's rumoured that some agents are also active by offering how to convert the black money into white to those who have huge physical currency with them but cannot deposit it in banks," said sources. They said while on the one hand ordinary people started queuing up outside banks to deposit Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, on the other many doctors and babus are running from pillar to post to save their cash. "Since November 9, some doctors didn't come to the hospital, causing hardships to patients who come from far flung areas. Even services at operation theaters were affected because of absence of doctors," sources added. |
