Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 11: An influential anaesthetist is illegally staying at district hospital Rajouri while on papers her place of posting is sub-district hospital Nowshera.
The Block Medical Officer (BMO) Nowshera, Dr Suresh Gupta, has repeatedly informed higher authorities about illegal stay of Dr. Nahida Akhter (anaesthetist) at DH Rajouri under the patronage of Chief Medical Officer, Rajouri.
"Dr Nahida was posted at sub-district hospital Nowshera for the last seven months, but using her influence she did not join the duty and has been staying put at DH Rajouri without any order of attachment", sources said.
They said that due to absence of an anaesthetist, work was paralysed at the SDH and no major surgery has been conducted there.
"After the anaesthetist did not comply with BMO's order to join duty, the matter was brought into the notice of CMO Rajouri. But he too seems helpless," sources added.
They alleged that initially the BMO was advised by the hospital staff not to pursue the matter as a close relative of Dr. Nahida is holding very important position in government.
The BMO was not available for comment. CMO Rajouri, Dr.Younis, confirmed that the actual place of posting of Dr. Nahida was in SDH Nowshera but she was staying in DH Rajouri. "Since there was no written order for her attachment, so she was staying in DH Rajouri on verbal orders.
Today she has been asked to report to SDH Nowshera", Dr. Younis said.
Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Gurjeet Singh said that it was "very unfortunate" if the anaesthetist had been staying in DH Rajouri without any attachment order. He assured that he would take up the matter with CMO Rajouri.
It is pertinent to mention here that the General Administration Department had under circular no. 32 GAD of 2016, on 27 July, revoked all the attachments. But despite the order, some influential people are still enjoying 'illegal' attachments.
