Heritage tour flagged off | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 11: A one of its first kind Heritage Tour was flagged off by Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon along with Dr. Ajeet Angral, Principal GGM Science College, Jammu. The college has taken the initiative to aware the younger generation of J & K about the rich culture and heritage. Students along with faculty members boarded the bus towards Parmandal-Uttarbaini, which is a site of historical importance. The Commissioner/Secretary, lauded the efforts of Principal, GGM Science College for taking such initiative, which is need of the hour as it is an essential step to safeguard the rich cultural heritage of the state. Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education while addressing the students emphasized that the young students are the torch bearers of the society and hence they are ones who will carry forward the rich ancient tradition of our state. Dr. Angral exhorted that these very students should spread the awareness about the conservation and preservation of our neglected heritage sites and take maximum benefit from series of programmes being organized by the college for the promotion of rich culture of the state. The heritage tour is undertaken under the flagship of UGC Heritage Project. Under the same project the students of GGM Science College visited Buddhist sites of Ambaran, Pandav caves and Akhnoor Fort yesterday. |
